Why do you need my social security information?

The USA PATRIOT Act was signed into law shortly after the September 11, 2001, attack on the United States. The Act requires all financial institutions to verify identification of any person who applies to open an account. Obtaining your social security number as well as other information such as your name, address, and date of birth helps us identify you.

The purpose of the Act is to prevent, detect, and prosecute international money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

We collect and verify your personal information, including your date of birth and social security number. We verify this information against third party databases as well as use it to run your credit report. Please note, checking your rate for the f1RST Personal Loan will not affect your credit score.
